Supporting the Whole Volunteer

The Active Aging Program provides health and wellness courses as well as social and community connection programs for older adults in the communities we serve. Over 100 activities are provided year round! The program is designed to empower older adults, inspire healthy, vibrant lives, provide opportunities to learn, and create and outlet for sharing life experiences.

Most importantly, this recognizes and thanks our older adults for the important service they provide to children in need.

Monthly Activities

Coffee Club: Coffee Club is a fun way for volunteer members across sites to reconnect and keep in touch. Generations Incorporated staff and volunteer members socialize for an hour over a cup of coffee or tea at a designated café.
Walking Club: Our Walking Clubs encourage volunteer members to stay active during the spring, summer and fall. Volunteer members get exercise while socializing and seeing beautiful parts of Boston. We currently have walking groups in Franklin Park, Carson Beach and Revere Beach.
Speaker Series: Every month we host a different speaker, who talks about a variety of subjects. Past topics include travel opportunities for older adults, Medicare, and Basic Lifesaving 101. Designed to encourage learning new skills and connecting to existing community resources.
Technology Time: Computer classes are offered at any level to volunteer members, as well as sessions on specific topics like email, Facebook, and Word. Group classes occur periodically throughout the program year, and one-on-one appointments can be made at any time.
Spanish Class: Beginner Spanish classes are offered once or twice a year for a twelve week course. Join other volunteers to learn basic Spanish for personal use or fun!
