Mary Gunn at TEDxBoston on July 29th
She is presenting, “One Solution for Two Significant Social Problems: How bringing older and younger generations together can improve both the health of senior citizens and the literacy skills of children.” TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) is a small non-profit dedicated to bringing together individuals across disciplines to share their innovative ideas with the world. Meet our new Board Member: Michel Idiokitas
Michel joins our board after a successful career in finance and community organizing. He first joined Generations Incorporated four years ago as an Experience Corps Member (ECM) and currently serves at the Yawkey Boys & Girls Club in Roxbury. He brings his experience in finance to our board, as well as to our older adults. He recently offered a training for his fellow ECMs on personal finance. As a leader in his community, he’s actively involved in recruiting other older adults, especially men of color. Prior to his experience with Generations Incorporated, Michel served on the Board of Directors at the Bowdoin Street Health Center. Michel currently resides in Dorchester, MA.

Social Innovation Forum Showcase Event
Last week Tuesday, Mary presented Generations Incorporated as Boston’s Healthy Aging Innovator at the Social Innovation Forum’s Showcase Event. You can watch her speech by clicking here. This event was an opportunity for us present how our programs engage older adults, promote healthy aging and at the same time, make an important literacy impact on Greater Boston’s school children. Tara Finnegan (Director of Resource Development), Samantha Levine (Board President), and Carol Kamin (Board Member) accompanied Mary to the N.E.R.D. Center (New England Research & Development) in Cambridge to network with local business leaders who are interested in lending their support and expertise to innovative Boston nonprofits like us!
