Experience Corps
Are you 55 or older? Do you have some spare time? We are looking for older adults who want to help elementary school children succeed in school and life.
What can I do?
- Meet one-on-one with children to help them read;
- Work with teachers to make sure kids get the attention they
need in the classroom;
- Meet with kids during lunch so they have an adult to talk to
and have fun with;
- Assist us in finding new volunteers by joining our recruitment
team;
- Lend your professional expertise while working with our staff
behind the scenes.
Why?
- Kids need you – the children we serve are struggling, and need your help;
- It’s fun! – you’ll work with a team of volunteers who share your energy and interests;
- No experience required – we have a great training team to help you prepare;
- You will be supported – your team has a site coordinator to answer all your questions;
- Stipends available – if you serve over 10 hours per week, you may be eligible.
Where?
We work in 15 locations in Dorchester, Roxbury, and South Boston.
You may serve as little as two hours per week.
If you serve more than 10 hours per week, you may be eligible
for a monthly stipend.
When?
We need volunteers who are willing to commit to at least two hours
of service per week during the school year. But, you can serve those
two hours anytime between 9am and 6pm, Monday through Thursday.
We also invite you to serve more than two hours. In fact, most of
our volunteers serve over 10 hours per week.
NEW! Be a Part of our Kindergarten Program!
We need volunteers for 20 new Kindergarten classrooms next year,
as part of our exciting new Kindergarten Project.
Volunteers will assist a full-time teacher inside the classroom
for 3 days each week, and a minimum of 2 hours each day. Volunteers
will help engage students in fun, pre-literacy activities, storytelling,
and constructive play experiences. We welcome your caring, experience,
and friendship as part of our new Kindergarten Project. Contact
Judy Krenzel at
