Liz Yanishevsky, SIF Recruitment and Training Specialist

Liz was born and raised in Boston.  She grew up in the neighborhoods of Jamaica Plain and Roslindale.  As a result of frequent family moves in her early childhood, Liz attended five different Boston Public elementary/middle schools, finally settling down to attend and graduate from Boston Latin School.  Liz worked as an employment attorney and a special education attorney and has had a longstanding interest in urban education reform and social justice.  When Liz became a parent herself, she saw firsthand the impact that reading early and often to your child can have on his or her success in school.  A love of reading has lead Liz to succeed in many facets of her own life and she believes that a love of reading is a priceless gift one can give to a child; a gift that will provide far-reaching benefits throughout that child's life.  Liz has served as a volunteer reading tutor for many years through various organizations, including serving for 4 years as a Site Team Leader for Generations at the Dever Elementary School and as a volunteer reading coach with the Generations program at the Whelan School in Revere. The connection the Generations Inc. program creates between older adults and elementary school children is magical to witness and is truly a win/win for both the older adults and the school children. Liz is delighted to be a member of the Generations Inc. volunteer recruitment and training team and to play a part in making that magic happen!
