Mary Gunn, Executive Director
Service has always been integral to Mary Gunn’s life. She began her professional career in the Peace Corps in Venezuela where she worked with elementary school teachers as they were learning and adapting to a new curriculum. Afterwards, she settled in Boston and went on to work for 35 years primarily with youth programs in Dorchester. Prior to joining Generations Incorporated in 2002, Mary served for 12 years as Executive Director of Bird Street Community Center in the Uphams Corner neighborhood of Dorchester.
She has led Generations Incorporated through its first major expansion in 2002-2006 and most recently through implementation of the Read to Succeed Strategic Plan. She brings outstanding vision, non-profit executive level experience, and creativity to the job. Mary leads a highly skilled staff. This staff oversees a large volunteer program of 250 AARP Experience Corps members.
Mary holds a Master’s Degree in Management from Lesley University and a Bachelors of Science from the University of New Hampshire. She hails originally from New Hampshire and continues to spend as much time as possible in the beautiful White Mountains.
