Do you want to dedicate a year of service to meeting the critical educational needs of children in Massachusetts? Are you interested in bridging the generational gap by coordinating our community-based intergenerational literacy programs? If so, becoming a Program Associate at Generations Incorporated may be right for you!

What will you gain from serving with Generations Incorporated?

  • Gain hands-on leadership experience coordinating multiple programs and supporting volunteers.
  • Build skills in group facilitation, program development, conflict resolution, and evaluation.
  • Gain insight into the structure and environment of an urban public school system.
  • Become part of a diverse team of volunteers who share a common passion for community service.
  • Experience serving in a well-run non-profit, and learn about non-profit management from the inside.
  • Receive extensive pre- and in-service training, and professional development focused on civic engagement, skill building, team building, and life after service.
  • Create and implement family outreach events and activities that bridge the gap between schools and students’ families.

Where?

Generations Incorporated serves students in Greater Boston.

  • We partner with nine Boston public schools and afterschool programs.
  • We also partner with three public schools in Revere.
  • We are excited to be expanding within Greater Boston in 2010.

When?

  • Your year of service will start September 1st and end June 30th. During that time, you will serve approximately 45 hours per week, Monday through Friday, and occasionally on weekends.
